Immediate Identification

Duane La Chance, 55, an employee of Gross Engineers in Springfield, suffered third-degree burns and was listed in critical condition Wednesday night, after accidentally touching a power line, said Henry Rosen, project manager for Gross Engineers.


Delayed Identification

A pipe fitter was sent to the intensive care unit in Springfield Hospital yesterday, after accidentally touching 15,000 volt power line.


Fact Set #2


Immediate Identification

James W. Cunning, 20, is in satisfactory condition at the Springfield Hospital today after Wayne Clay, 19, crossed the center line and struck Cunning’s vehicle on U.S. 63, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department.


Delayed Identification

An accident occurred on U.S. 63 today, after a driver crossed the center line and struck an oncoming driver, according to the Lincoln Country Sherriff’s Department.

  1. 1) Good, but I'd rather know where the accident occurred than who his employer is.
    2) The first one works; the second one doesn't. Accidents are only news if someone is injured, so make that the focus of your lead.
